Transforming Trauma
USA (1995)
"One of the most startling findings to come out of the recent literature on
sex offenders is the extent to which even incest offenders have committed
high numbers of nonsexual crimes."
from private e-mail:
Some researchers have claimed that although detected recidivism among
sex offenders is low, they are responsible for vast numbers of
undetected crimes. But this claim does not rest on very secure
foundations. Anna Salter in her book 'Transforming Trauma' (USA, 1995)
can identify only six studies in the previous 20 years in which sex
offenders were invited to admit undetected crimes anonymously, and the
bulk of the evidence comes from just one of those six, by far the
largest, Abel et al. (1987).
