Child pornography has infiltrated America Online, sparking an FBI investigation targeting individuals placing the illegal pictures on the on-line information service and those making copies, according to FBI and U.S. attorney records.
The FBI began its probe in the fall after discovering that some customers of America Online were posting electronic pictures of naked children....

The only source of child pornography I'm aware of is the United States Government. Rather than destroying this material as they obtain it, they distribute it in the hopes of entrapping people and arresting them for possession.
Why, if this material is so evil, is the U.S. government allowed to do this?
