The modern definition of "pedophile" means "someone who is sexually attracted to prepubescent children". Merely having a sexual attraction, however subjectively offensive to the average American Joe, does '''not''' constitute an action much less an offense. "Pedophile" is a noun, not a verb. It means to posess a characteristic. Are you banning me because of a characteristic I claim to posess? If so, how is that not discriminatory? Especially since that I've publicly stated that I've never had sex with anyone under the age of consent and that all my past boyfriends were adults! It's full of innaccurasies, biased terms, and I also argue that it's inciting violence and cyberstalking amongst the online community simply based that I'm attracted to minors. (4x edit conflict) On the articles mentioned: someone (aka PeeJ) doesn't understand how wiki-projects work, and addressing most of their complaints would go against our principles. It would also be reactionary and prove that Wikipedia could be shoved around. Also note their horrid habit of jumping to assumptions, they had to make no less than 4 corrections and apologies in [http://www.perverted-justice.com/opinions/?article=11 this article] for what would be WP:NPA violations here.

So long as Rookie can keep himself in line article-wise, I fail to see why Perverted Justice's article columns should have much impact here. His changes that I've seen, most of which I've opposed, have been less than disruptive, and he's been quite good about following process and proposing his changes through talk. Compared to the rants that the pedophilia pages draw, I'd call him a good contributor though a definite activist. Matt's changes should have addressed the majority of your concerns, and the presence of pro-anything-and-everything advocates is to be expected on Wikipedia.

It's amazing... I'm not even allowed the dignity to remove the "objectionable" material on my own after a matter of due process. I had not even been officially informed by anyone from the Wikimedia Foundation that any of my content on my userpage (which I thought was ''supposed'' to be my little "home" here) is objectionable, and it seems that everyone on here is kind of deciding my fate for me while I'm AFK.

Is having a dream of being able to live a normal, happy lifestyle objectionable? Would people have found my comment so objectionable if it were dealing with a more common heterosexual or homosexual orientation? I did not even mention the word "sex" in that passage, did I? My userpage or that passage was (is) not an act of violation of Wikimedia's terms of service. It is an inflection in what I as a person hope and dream for. I am not inciting violence, hate, bigotry, or even illegal material by stating it. By removing it, it is illustrating the struggle in which I and tens.. hundreds of thousands of like-minded people are facing each and every day of their lives.

As a parent and as an educator, why must I wait? I have seen enough of the skewed and slanted pedophilic propaganda to know that this is not trolls from outside. Why should I care if there is any truth to the conspiracy theories, when all the evidence is there at Wikipedia of their own self defacement for whatever motive they have- Wikipedia allows their admin pedophiles too much administrative control over content to the point where it is in my opinion, unsafe for children to be exposed to this dis-information. As a parent and a concerned citizen, for the safety of my children and others children I feel it is my duty to warn others, and I believe that these news articles, whether truth or propagandist agenda, have some foundation in people being injuried by Wikipedia and not the other way around. The absolute power of influence over peoples lives, safety, and reputations by so called "thought crimes" like libel, enticement, and propaganda being most definitively in the hands of any media or man that dares to allign itself with what we conceive as a neutral source of truth, like a trusted teacher to a student, like an adult to a child, or like an encyclopedia to the masses.

Thoughts are no longer just thoughts when they are typed out to be read online, or on paper when spoken out loud to a child, or even in imagery, drawings and photos. Wikipedia readers, some of whom may be children, are not reading people's minds- these are communications not just thoughts. These articles and User Talk pages are held to the higher standard that applys to communications under the laws of the State of Florida and federal law with regard to Title 18 (see U.S.C. 2242b)

If an Wikipedo-admin wants to tell my 12 year old daughter in California to come meet him in Utah for sex, that he thinks it is ok for men to fuck little girls as long as its done lovingly, and he tells her to read about this lovely "child love" theory in Wikipedia and to go see other "girls" extolling the virtues of fellatio with men in GirlChat and links to it from his User Talk page, then he has broken the law in all 50 states as well as federal statute on "solicitation of a minor for sex".

Under [[child sexual abuse]] Wikipedia had a subtopic on [[Age of consent]] and simple or informed consent. Someone wanted to add this fact to the section "At this time, there is overwhelming consensus in the US that it should be illegal for minors to have sex, as all 50 states in the US have an Age of Consent Law", a simple statement of fact easily linked and referenced, sounds like it might apply to some of this content correct? Rookiee and other Wikipedo admins wouldn't allow the references to stay- not for a week not for ten minutes- not very encyclopedic, IMO.

The magazine was somewhat hastily produced, compared to other [[boylove]] publications like ''[[Pan: A Magazine about Boy-Love]]'' and ''[[NAMBLA Bulletin]]'' which had a more professional outlook. All issues were illustrated with sketches of boys, while each magazine cover was illustrated with a black and white photograph of a boy. Each issue had between 26 and 34 pages of contents.

Issues 0 to 4 were edited by Antoine Duverger, issue 5 by Gérard Bach, and the last four ones by Nicolas Malenfant. Each issue contained essays, poetry, book reviews, reviews of boylove and homophile press, reports from abroad (both political/legal and travel), film reviews, press clippings, letters to the editor, etc.

== Circulation ==

The first issue was printed in 1000 copies and distributed for free to all members of [[GRED]]. Subsequent issues were published in 1000-2000 copies and apart from being sent to [[GRED]] members, were also sold in a number of bookstores in [[France]], [[Belgium]] and [[Switzerland]].

From the beginning, ''Le petit gredin'' faced many problems in finding regular contributors, financial resources and distributors. The situation with the distributors became most difficult after a scandal in neighboring [[Belgium]] were a similar publication, ''[[L'espoir]]'', went under attack. One by one, the bookstores refused to sell ''Le petit gredin''. This, coupled with internal conflicts in the editorial team, led [[GRED]] to stop publishing ''Le petit gredin''.

== Biography ==

A foundling child discovered in San Antonio, Texas, Breen strove to distinguish himself academically from a young age and continued excelling academically throughout his post-secondary education. He endured a brief stint in the United States Army, and claimed that a 1947 plane crash while on duty contributed to his photographic memory.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Johns Hopkins University in 1952, having finished four years of coursework in approximately ten months, and later earned his Master's degree from University of California, Berkeley in 1966. As Breen completed his undergraduate college coursework, he immersed himself in the study of coinage. Walter Breen also spent considerable time compiling information on the history of pederasty.

Breen was married to science fiction writer Marion Zimmer Bradley in 1964. They had two children and separated in 1979, yet they continued to see each other. They officially divorced in 1990.

In 1980, both Breen and Bradley were ordained in the Holy Apostolic-Catholic Church of the East (Chaldean-Syrian) priesthood by Metropolitan-Archbishop Mikhail Itkin, a well-known [[gay]] clergyman.

Breen has been quite open in his attraction for boys. He actively sought out boys and got in trouble with the law several times. He was first arrested in the 1950s for "lewd behavior", exposing himself to young boys under a boardwalk in Atlantic City. In 1991 he was charged with eight felony counts of child molestation involving a thirteen-year-old boy, the step-son of science-fiction writer Stephen Goldin.

Breen was diagnosed with liver cancer in 1992, and died in prison in Chino, California the next year.

== Publications ==

Apart from his influential coinage works Breen extensively researched on the history of [[pederasty]]. In 1964, assisted by Warren Johansson, he published his monograph ''Greek Love'' (New York: [[Oliver Layton Press]], 1964) under the pseudonym J.Z. Eglinton. The book was later published in UK and Germany. For years ''Greek Love'' was the most throughout scholarly work on the history of [[pederasty]].

Apart from ''Greek Love'', Breen also edited the ''[[International Journal of Greek Love]]'' and contributed several articles in it.

He also recorded his experiences with boys in French north [[Africa]] in the autobiographical ''Journal d'un innocent'' (1976).

Duvert's works have been primarily published (in France) in small paperbacks by Éditions de Minuit. He also wrote for the French homophile publications ''Gai Pied'' and ''Masques''. The attack on his work since the 1980s probably contributed to his mysterious disappearance from the literary scene at the beginning of the 1990s.

His body was found 20 August 2008 in Thoré-la-Rochette.

However, not all computers on the Internet have been assigned their own unique IP address, because there are not enough addresses to go around. This lack of addresses has been remedied by several kludges. One such kludge is called NAT (Network Address Translation), whereby all computers on one subnet share a "public" IP address for external communication while maintaining a "private" address for internal communication. NAT has been effective in prolonging the useable lifespan of the now twenty-year-old IP address protocol. A new version of the IP protocol, IPv6, is designed to replace the current protocol, but has not yet been widely implemented. The new version provides a vastly larger address space and simpler autoconfiguration.

== Threats ==

An IP address assigned to a computer can be used to find the identity of the owner of that computer. IP addresses are a particular [[anonymity]] concern for boylovers, because they are revealed to the recipents of e-mail and to web sites visited. It was founded in 1992 by Charles Socarides, Benjamin Kaufman, and Joseph Nicolosi and is part of the ex-gay movement that advocates using reparative therapy to change the sexuality of lesbians and [[gay]] men. It can be differentiated from other such organizations because the arguments it advances are primarily based in psychiatry, not religious belief. The group maintains that [[homosexuality]] is a psychological disorder, contrary to the official position of the American Psychological Association (APA) whom removed [[homosexuality]] from its list of mental disorders in 1972 and condemned all attempts at reparative therapy, whether voluntary or coerced, for patients exhibiting same-gender behavior.

The reparative therapies endorsed and used by NARTH are no longer endorsed by many professional mental health organizations, such as the American Psychiatric Association, American Counseling Association, National Association of School Psychologists, and the National Association of Social Workers. Other health care associations have also condemned reparative therapy including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American School Health Association. Professional organizations of educators have also added their voice opposing this therapy, such as the American Association of School Administrators, American Federation of Teachers, and the National Education Association.

NARTH was the first organization that publicitly criticized Rind, Tromovitch and Bauserman "[[Rind et al. Brongersma's enormous library archive on intergenerational sexual relationships became the base of the Foundation, located at his villa in Overveen (near Haarlem) in the [[Netherlands]]. After his death in 1998, the Foundation has chosen to operate as a fund for scientific research.

== The Brongersma Collection ==

From its inception in 1979, the first goal of the Brongersma Foundation was to retain and to manage its immense library and various subcollections with material related to the sexual development of children and young people.

In addition to some 20,000 books, the archive included hundreds of thousands of homoerotic images—ranging from private photographs
and commercial pornography to the collected work of photographers such as [[Hajo Ortil]]. Many of the images depict youths. The archive also contains some 500 personal sexual histories, often detailing relationships with boys.

Before his death in 1998, Brongersma had appointed two conservators
for his Foundation's archive: Dr. F. Wafelbakker, a pediatrician and retired director of Children's Medical Services for the Ministry
of Health, and Dr. Cees Straver, a physician, lawyer, and former head of the Netherlands Institute for Sexological Research.

A controversy arose in 1999 when these two conservators decided that they should destroy the archive's photos and personal histories in accordance with the recent [[Netherlands]] law on [[child pornography]] which Wafelbakker helped author. The executor of Brongersma's estate, University of Utrecht psychologist Lex van Naerssen, opposed the destruction and the two conservators stripped him of his authority. In August, Van Naerssen went to court to gain back his executorship and block any destruction, and he won a temporary stay.

Nevertheless in mid two late 2001, the Dutch police raided the archive twice and carted away dozens of boxes of personal histories and photographs. The prosecutors announced that through the photographs and personal histories, they "had identified hundreds of men who had been involved--mostly years ago--in homosexual relationships with boys, and that they had evidence to launch some 40 prosecutions."[http://www.ipce.info/ipceweb/Library/guide_brong_01feb_eng.htm]

In 2002 and 2003 an agreement was reached between the Brongersma Foundation and two other institutes which would keep what remained of the Foundation's collection on permanent loan and manage it. The personal histories with the accompanying visual material are now managed by the Netherlands Institute for Social Sexological Research (a division of the Rutgers Nisso Group) in Utrecht while the library and archives of the Foundation are managed by the International Institute of Social History (IISG) in [[Amsterdam]].

Since 1998, the Brongersma Foundation operates as a fund for scientific research. Its main objectives are:

According to the blurb inside the journal, IJGL is a "quarterly devoted to literary, historical, sociological, psychological and related studies centered around the phenomenon of Greek love, defined as the love between man and adolescent boy."

== Format and content ==

IJGL is a small size (6x9 inches) periodical of about 60 pages. The cover carried the title of the journal as well as the logo of the publisher—[[Oliver Layton Press]]. Below the volume and number enumeration we read the definition of "Greek Love" as "the love and sex relationship between adult men and adolescent boys."

According to the introduction written by the editor, IJGL welcomed for publication original studies portraying patterns or case studies analogous to the [[pederasty]] tradition of [[Ancient Greece|classical Greece]], translation of unavailable literary or scholarly material, reviews of books and films, previously unpublished [[poetry]], [[prose]], and [[autobiography|autobiographical]] material, as well as other anecdotal observations. Apparently, unlike other journals, the contributions in IJGL were not peer reviewed since the journal did not have an editorial board. Most probably, Breen reviewed all the contributions himself.

The two issues together contain eight original articles, two translations of previously published studies, a small anonymous autobiographical essay, eight letters to the editor, eight book reviews, as well as some odds and ends under the title "varia" (see the Table of Contents below).

== Circulation ==

It is unknown how many copies of IJGL were printed and circulated. If we consider that Breen's book ''[[Greek Love]]'' (1964) had a very small circulation due to its notoriety, we can speculate that IJGL achieved a very small circulation as well. This is reinforced by the fact that, even though the journal was originally scheduled to be published quarterly, only two issues appeared. It seems unlikely that any public or academic library became a subscriber to the journal. IJGL was rather circulated among a handful of academics and [[boylover|boy-lovers]] who shared a keen interest in the journal's subject matter.

Rictor Norton and Louie Crew in particular, have noted that the two issues of IJGL are so rare that nearly make a collector's item(1). Indeed, today one can find IJGL mostly in specialized libraries which hold large collections of gay and lesbian [[periodical|periodicals]], most of which are based on personal collections. It can also be found in the Library of Congress (which holds copies of anything published in the US) and some other major academic and public libraries possibly because someone donated the material.

== Impact ==

Despite its small circulation, the IJGL managed to have a considerable impact on gay and lesbian scholarship for such an obscure journal. As expected, the best researched articles are those that have been most quoted. [[Jonathan Drake|Jonathan Drake's]] article on [[boy prostitution]] in [[Turkey]] remains one of the most cited sources for [[homosexuality]] in [[Turkey]], while Hammond's article on "[[Paidikion]]", an anonymous 570 page [[pederasty]] manuscript ostensibly written by linguist [[Kenneth Searight]] circa 1917, and Bradley's survey of lesbian "Greek Love" are two other contributions that have been discussed.

Apart from the handful of original and well researched articles mentioned above, one of the most interesting features of IJGL is the letters section that appeared in the second issue. At a time long before the internet became a mean of communication, these letters to the editor reveal the need felt by scholars and boy-lovers alike to reach to each other and discuss issues that were important to them. Reading this communication is certainly entertaining. There are accusations of plagiarism, suggestions for creating a [[activism|boy-love movement]] (Breen thinks not) and discussions whether homosexual men taking youthful lovers can be considered "Greek lovers" (Breen thinks not again) among others.

Despite its obscurity and notoriety, the publication of IJGL remains a pioneering attempt to publish a scholarly journal dedicated to the study of [[pederasty]]. IJGL opened the road for other important militant or scholarly publications, the most important of the latter kind being the "notorious" ''[[Paidika: The Journal of Paedophilia]]'' (1987-1995).

This highly respected forum for research into same-sex desire examines sexual practices and gender roles in their cultural, historical, interpersonal, and modern social contexts. In the fall of 2005, the Journal celebrated it's 50th volume.

The ''Journal of Homosexuality'' is published quarterly with two volumes per year (that is total eight issues per year). Its special issues that appear every year are simultaneously published as edited books by Haworth Press. According to its mission statement, apart from scholarly research on homosexuality the journal aims "to confront homophobia through the encouragement of scholarly inquiry and the dissemination of sound research".

Over the years, the Journal has published many scholarly articles that carefully considered [[boylove]] related topics. Among those include Tindall's study of loved boys that grow to be heterosexuals (Vol. 3, No. 4, 1978), Jones' bibliographical survey of [[pederasty]] (Vol. 8, No. 1, 1982), Sandfort's article on [[pedophilia]] and the [[gay]] movement (Vol. 13, Nos. 2/3, 1986), Tsang's article on chemical castration (Vol. 28, Nos. 3/4, 1995), Mirkin's controversial article on [[pedophile]] politics (Vol. 37, No. 2, 1999), Graupner's work on the [[age of consent]] (Vol. 37, No. 4, 1999) and others.

The last decade the Journal went under attack by anti-homosexual, anti-boylove lobbyers mostly because several members of its editorial board ([[Vern Bullough]], Wayne R. Dynes, Gert Hekma, Hubert Kennedy, [[D.H. Mader]], Theo Sandfort, Daniel Tsang) including its editor John P.De Cecco used to be members of the editorial board of ''[[Paidika: The Journal of Paedophilia]]''. Over the years, ''Archives of Sexual Behavior'' has published many scholarly articles that considered topics like [[homosexuality]], [[pedophilia]] and [[boylove]] in a careful manner. Coltfoot Press begun publishing in the mid 1970s in [[New York]] and was later bought by [[Spartacus]] in Amsterdam.

Little is known about its publishing in [[New York]]. Some have suggested that Coltsfoot Press was a different name for [[Oliver Layton Press]] which operated in the mid 1960s. Nevertheless, the only collection between the two is that the latter republished [[Casimir Dukahz]]'s ''The Asbestos Diary''.

In the early 1980s, Coltsfoot Press was bought and re-activated by [[Amsterdam]]-based publisher [[Spartacus]], owned by John Stamford. Stamford employed [[Frank Torey]] as the general editor or Coltfoot Press. Under Torey the book format was changed from 24cm hardback to the cheaper 18cm paperback and new titles were published along the reprints. Torey also begun publishing the ''Panthologies'', series of boylove short stories anthologies which were later continued as the ''[[Acolyte Press|Acolyte]] Readers''.

Finally, Coltsfoot Press went bankrupt in 1984 after the authorities demanded the payment of back and penalty taxes. For years Stamford tried to evade taxes by having business addresses in both [[London]] and [[Amsterdam]], leaving the authorities in each city believe that the taxes were being paid in the other. Torey left and continued on his own with the succesful [[Acolyte Press]].
