This study critically examines the psychosocial consequences of maintaining the age of consent at 16 years within the Jamaican socio-cultural and legal context. Using a qualitative conceptual analytical design supported by documentary review of empirical research, policy documents, and legal analyses, the study identifies key themes including criminalization anxiety, service access barriers, gendered stigma, and developmental dissonance.
