Uncommon Sense

Profile of a Hypocrite

So when I was in the process of hosting this site, after its predecessor got taken down without warning by Larry Page’s GoogleGoons, it seemed sensible to go out and look for a temporary home for my writings. And when I saw the following from journalscape.com, I could hardly believe my luck (sarcasm)…

“All content posted on JournalScape.com through any means is the responsibility and property of the author. JournalScape.com does not filter or restrict any content except where required by law, such content is not pre-screened, but JournalScape.com reserves the right (but not the obligation) to remove or refuse content”.

Emphasis mine. So, it seems that Journalscape were willing to host my content. After all, as my readers should know, I never instruct people to break laws, but rather call for their revision. And knowing that the kind folks at Journalscape even took the incentive of giving my project the green light before I had contacted one of their staff, I knew (sarcasm) that I was in safe hands. And I have to say (and again for emphasis) that I was SHOCKED when my temporary blog was removed only a couple of days after its creation. Yes, shocked, shocked and sHoCkEd!

And what’s more, sick DannyBoy had e.mail from a confused site founder and owner, who goes by the name of Kenny Smith. Kenny, a young software engineer from Los Angeles in California has kindly offered his face, heart and contact details to his many adoring fans on the interwebs. He can be seen to your left, getting to grips with a more physical kind of labour. And again, I have to say that I was shocked, shocked and s h o c k e d when a man with Google on his CV (yes, that bastion of libertarianism!) revealed such a misguided and neurotically executed lust for removing my work. Here follows the said discussion between myself and Smudger (and I have to say, Kenny, that you have a blistering flair for logic!!!)…

Kenny (after removing my pages) wrote:“Hello, I would appreciate you finding
another site for your journal.
Advocating illegal behavior is not allowed”.

Daniel wrote:

“I find it rather offensive that you think I’m advocating illegality. Have you been targeted by perverted-justice? They regularly lie about this kind of thing.

As you probably know, advocating law reform on the basis of already illegal activity being ethical is fully legal, protected free speech. Instructing that illegal behaviour, is illegal. But at no point do I do this. Hence my choosing of your site (see your tos)”.

Kenny wrote:

“That’s amusing. You are offended by _my_ behavior. You’re sick and advocating sex with children who cannot make informed decisions for themselves. Take your perverted and disgusting speech elsewhere”.

Daniel wrote:

“Thanks for expressing your honest motivations. Although you have yourself covered (with the usual vague TOS clause), you do in fact write this right beside it: “JournalScape.com does not filter or restrict any content except where required by law, such content is not pre-screened”. Perhaps you should consider re-writing this, as not to lead advocates of unorthodoxies astray (as you have here).

As I have explained, in no way do I advocate illegal sex with minors. I advocate the concept, and that it be legalised, as was the case for many years in the Netherlands”.

Kenny wrote:

“You forgot the second half of that sentence:
“…but JournalScape.com reserves the right (but not the obligation)
to remove or refuse content””.

Daniel wrote:

“Re-read my mail to you, and you will find that I certainly didn’t forget it!

One step after another, etc, etc”.

If anyone would like to send electronic mail to the hypocrite, you may have some success trying specialk@gmail.com. Otherwise, you can find him at his given address: Kenny Smith, PO Box 643151, Los Angeles, CA  90064, US (818-415-2839). Who knows? Your pursuits may bear fruit where mine did not; you may get him to change his hypocritical policy… or the colour scheme on his website.P.S. The intention of providing Kenny Smith’s details is not one of encouraging harassment or violence. It is intended, however, that hypocrites be exposed, and through polite correspondences with this particular one, company policies can be changed.
