2007 Year in Review, and Looking Ahead to 08
Bon voyage 2007!!!
I’ve noticed that around this time of year all the newspapers and media outlets run out their top-10 lists. For example, according to Time.com the top news story of 2007 was the unrest in Pakistan; the #1 fiction book of ’07 was The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz, #2 fiction book for children was Today I Will Fly
Written and illustrated by Mo Willems; and the #1 buzzword, according to Time, of last year was “cougar,” an older woman who sexually pursues younger men.
So what I am going to ask from my colleagues here at Newgon, and our readers, is to construct a list of about 5 items concerning the child-love community that you believe are worthy of mentioning about 2007. For example, here’s my top 5 list of items that I think would make good top 5 lists of last year.
1. The top 5 pedophile news stories of 2007
2. The top 5 MAA victories of ‘07
3. The top 5 MAA defeats of ‘07
4. The top 5 sexiest boy stars of ‘07
5. The top 5 MAA websites of 2007
So now that the seed is planted I’ll let it sit and develop—please post your lists in the comments section—and then in about a week or two I’ll redact all the lists into a longer blog post to highlight what we’ve come up with.
Bonjour 2008!!!
The second part of this assignment can be completed with the first part. Looking ahead, what are some goals that you wish to accomplish vis-à-vis MAA activism, or in regards to your own private life as an MAA? This needn’t be a list, but if I were going to brain storm the top 5 things I hope to accomplish in regards to my pedophile activism might look as follows:
1. Spend more time constructing posts for Newgon
2. Tell at least one boy that I think he is beautiful
3. Reach out more to young boylovers
4. Contrapuntal rebuttal of top Anti lies
5. Build a pro adult/child love website for children
Ok, so maybe I will or will not complete all these, or maybe I will complete them and more. But at this moment these are the things that come time mind as important to meand my activism.
Even though 2007 was not without its problems, I think we, the MAAs, have come out on top if only that we’ve been successful in drawing attention to our cause. More and more society—much to the charging of antis—is being confronted with our voice, and we are controlling the conversation simply by inserting out vocabulary and making the public aware that we are here, we are educated, and we are willing to fight for our cause. We have not left the margins, yet, but at the very least 2007 assured that our voices are not written in invisible ink.
The best New Year to you and yours. Peace on Earth and goodwill towards everyone.

The fact that abusive persons at blogspot (both on the admin, and in the general, blogging public) have incited a backlash effect, where in several MAA’s have secured their own hosting, developed their own sites and taken a stand…That might be worthy of mention.
When those who hate fan the flames, the result is a sort of triumph for MAA’s.
The Madeleine McCann story…how fox “news” channel ran wild with this story, in one of the most despicable, arrogant, irresponsible and dishonest examples of pedophile attacking propaganda, seen in years.
There are still characters in this story today, who are trying to make the public believe that a “pedophile ring” will magically materialize…in spite of a complete absence of any evidence, even pointing towards the likelihood that such a thing happened.
We still don’t even know that Madeleine was ever even kidnapped, in the first place.
This is the first time I recall a “world news” story involving parents, who felt all to welcome to dictate the “obvious” script of their daughters disappearance (throwing attention as far away from themselves as possible), and push it as though it were fact, on a news channel with questionable integrity.
They could not stop saying “pedophile”, or say it enough times…or stop bringing in the “pedophile experts” to interview…or rehash “pedophile” news stories.
…all this, in spite of the glaring fact, that no pedophile has ever been found in connection to this case…nor has there been any evidence, pointing towards a pedophiles involvement.
The parents still seem pretty suspicious, however…They want a phantom pedophile to fall out of the sky and save them, I think…
These or the only noteworthy things of 2007, which are coming to mind for me right now.
For this year, I intend on getting every bit of my old blog content back online…I want to get my site back into the search engines (like my blog was…I actually had a pretty sweet spot, as being the only “atheist boylover” in the search engines).
I might look into putting up a chat board (though I have little clue where to start, and I’m not sure I want to deal with overlooking it).
I’m going to keep developing sections of the EQF, as I see fit to add new ones.
It is very late/early…I cant think anymore…I need sleep…
Steve
More webpages that are pro-humanist and explore the positive aspects of sexuality and expression in all forms including intergenerational is always a good thing.
I have felt for sometime that we focus far too much on responding to the antis. I think it is time we talk directly to children.
So what would a child-love website look like that is made for preteens and teens?
Here’s a few listed ideas I’ve been kicking around.
1. Must be graphic intensive
2. Must be easy to navigate and informative with out using huge vocabulary
3. Must get at the key issues of child love that directly affects children.
4. Must have a safety section that shows the risk that pedophile hunters, antis, and authority figures such as school counselors and parents pose to kids.
5. We need to present children with our paradigm in an effective manner that they consume.
TARGETING CHILDREN
(i know that sounds bad, LOL!!!)
Having “been around” for a few years now, I am beginning to see young boylovers and girl lovers. We need to think about them. Also, I’m sure there are many children who are having wonderful consensual sex with an adult, but they are afraid because of antis, school counselors, police, parents and other adults who would attack the child’s pedophile. We need to find a very effective way to let these kids know that they are doing nothing wrong; and we need to let these kids know that there are people out there committed to hurting them if they find out about the child’s sex life. So this website for children needs a very good How-2 section about sexually active children keeping safe from the antis.
Thanks for the thought-provoking post Raven. Do I get demerits for turning in my assignment late?!
I’ve been struggling with the most significant events of 2007. Partly because our struggle is one of continual cycles; much like the trench warfare of WW1, an inch of territory is won, and an inch of territory is lost, and from the ground it is difficult to see overall progress. Nevertheless, a few events seem particularly worthy of mention.
I believe that the point made by Steve D is one that should not be underestimated: the fact that MAAs are persisting in establishing their own sites (eg. EQF, Newgon) even in the face of ever-increasing persecution is something of which to be proud.
Secondly, the Jack McClellan case holds significance, the full consequences of which are too early to assess. Obviously it raised issues surrounding freedom of speech, the creation of ‘pedophile free’ zones, ‘thought crimes’, and so on. Legislators may yet respond with the creation of new persecutory laws.
The continuing expansion of the ‘qualifications’ necessary to be placed on sex offender registries is also worthy of note. As these registries become ever more encompassing, there is an increased likelihood of public backlash. There have been numerous cases in the US of boys of 8 or younger being accused of ‘sex crimes’ (with their peers). Plus the infamous case over in the UK of the man placed on the sex offender registry essentially for engaging in ‘sexual activity’ with his bicycle in a hotel room.
I would also mention as significant the proposals to mark RSOs’ driving licenses, identifying them as sex offenders; undoubtedly this brings to mind the Scarlet Letter of Puritan times, and shows just how much the pedohysteria begun in the late-70s has maintained a momentum that shows no sign of abating.
On a more global scale, the worsening economic position of the US, together with relations with Iran and China, naturally have significance for populations. As seen post-9/11, ruling regimes can exploit ‘external threats’ to increase internal surveillance, and war on foreign territory has been used to distract the public mind from domestic crises since the advent of civilization.
As far as the forthcoming year is concerned, generally-speaking I would like to see more co-operation between activists on projects. Naturally our individual security issues are a limiting factor, but given the ease of secure and anonymous communications, there seems little reason why some degree of co-operation cannot be achieved. Raven’s idea for a CL website directed at young people, and BLue Ribbon’s proposals for establishing guides for MAAs, are projects that have elements that would perhaps benefit from community support.
In terms of more specific goals, I would mention projects such as a more structured monitoring of individual journalists’ sensibilities, and appropriate direct targeting campaigns; utilization of social networking sites to provide a genuine ‘sex education’ program for young people; reaching out to CLs who perhaps have no awareness of the resources and support systems that are available to them; and more generally working to undermine the nuclear family by raising awareness of parental emotional and physical abuse.
It will be an interesting year…
I’d like to respond to a few things…
Raven…
Even though it has been something “I” have avoided trying to do as a personal project, I completely agree. An online, sexual education resource for kids of all ages, which incorporates a clear and full, yet simple, education on pedophiles, would be fantastic.
That thought has occurred to me in the past (and I know I’ve ran across at least one boylovers private website, where this has been attempted).
I’ve always been reluctant, just because it has been an intention of mine to avoid any kind of contact with, or solicitation of, minors during my online activities.
Of course, I’ll rarely cross paths with a minor online, and it is no big deal. That does not bother me…but, I have had concerns of whether or not the website idea, might be compromising myself and my projects.
This is a quandary, with no easy answers…Of course, it should exist, and there is no other answer to that question.
…but, I know of at least one, bold, sexual education website, focused at teenagers, which drew a lot of unwanted attention, and got it’s creator some problems.
There should be no mistakes made, as to whether or not this path is likely to lead into legally hazardous, and maybe even personally dangerous, places.
I’m not saying it should not be done…I just think this should be noted and understood.
Indeed…If I can help out, I will.
Also, I’m reluctant to bring this up, because it is still just a sketchy idea in my mind, at this point in time…but, I would really love to see the return of a regular, podcast which caters to, and evenly represents our community…and our culture.
What Rookiee (sp?) was doing with Pedologues, was pure gold (maybe with the exception of an episode or two, which I will never single out). “I”, am not the person to pick up the ball, and run with a project that is quite in that specific vain…for multiple reasons…but, I would still like to see real voices, getting back out there in front of the masses…and as inspiration for fellow child lovers.
I’ve recorded various pieces…spanning anywhere form a few minutes, to twenty minutes or more…and even started to produce a show (what would have been the first episode), for an account I made at a free site called Pod-o-Matic…I may never upload that, because it is so long (about an hour and a half), and it is still not done…(I figure I should round it up to two hours, if I do anything with it at all).
But, that is just a personal podcast project, as an openly atheist and boylove personality…I have no visions of trying to get guests…whether that is to the benefit, or peril of the production, who knows?…
If I ever get past the first step…I would love to see, multiple, regular participants…Maybe we could have a literal round table discussion, once a month…or more…with three or four regulars…just an idea.
Maybe, someone could maintain a group (or archival) account at libsyn…and, multiple people could produce their own podcast, including those put off by having to pay for hosting and identify themselves in the process…again, just an idea…
Lastly, I was going to respond to something Strato said, but…what I wrote, I think is good enough, that I’m going to post it on the main blog, as a short post…(so, read it there, please)…It’s pertaining to Jack McClellan’s case, and a personal change in stance.
A couple of weeks ago, I managed to fill out a full length reply to this, but my browser returned a not responding error.
I think that there are still a few submissions that can be made in brief, though. They will be… as we are, highly restricted to online activity.
