Debate Guide Update

Last modified on February 9, 2008

I have moved Debate Guide from its on-site location to its own domain, at debate-guide.com.

For site administrators, the ftp details remain the same (simply insert [username]debateguide into the user field, instead of [username]newgon).

Debate Guide remains an umbrella project of Newgon.com (the organisation, as opposed to the website), and I encourage all interested parties to take part in enriching it.

So far, six people have contributed to Debate Guide, including myself, Catherine N.X., Raza (who created the original account on Google) and an anonymous man who is not affiliated with the site.

I am currently working on a detailed list of improvements that Strato outlined some time ago, and have my own long list to act on as well, but the primary changes that I have made relate to re-linking some images and repairing some damage caused by the domain name change.

Credit must go to Jillium for originally implementing the sites’ re-hosting last summer, and combing through the code, as to make any changes in domain name less damaging. This has saved me a lot of time.

  • Y’know, when I registered that googlepages thing all those ages ago I never actually meant to name the project; just to describe it. It’s always a laugh to see it refered to like that.

  • I thought about changing it once or twice, but once the site became moderately established (and I found out that the.com was available), I saw no reason to play around with it. Generic titles are quite good for intellectual projects anyway, based on the fact that a title could never begin to adequately describe what you are naming, so you might as well not give the reader any prejudice, and draw them in to a further description contained within.
