[[wikipedia:John Mitzel|John Mitzel]] was an American writer, publisher, activist, and bookstore owner who played a significant role in the LGBTQ+ movement in Boston. He was a co-founder and contributor to influential publications such as Fag Rag and Gay Community News.

He wrote ''The Boston Sex Scandal'' - the definitive work on the [[Boston-Boise affair]], and ''Recipe for a witchhunt'' where Mitzel reviews the history of America's pedophile witchhunt.

He was an ally of MAP and [https://www.consentingjuveniles.com/Case_Narrative?case=John_Mitzel mentioned] having felt a strong attraction to men as a teenager. 

John Mitzel died in 2013.
