Siberian Mouse was a photography studio located in Novosibirsk, Russia, that operated from 2001 until it was shut down in November 2011. Its photographer, Sergei Kropochkin, also known as "Uncle Seryozha," was arrested on November 17, just two days after a criminal case was opened against him. This arrest followed a joint operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and Interpol[1], which was initiated when the father of one of the girls (possibly Kristina Migorskaya), who worked in the police, noticed that his daughter was in possession of 1,000 rubles, the amount she received from her first photo shoot. Kropochkin was convicted in February 2014 after being accused of commissioning 211 criminal episodes[2]; he was ultimately found guilty of 145 counts of "violent" sexual crimes against girls. While based in Russia, Siberian Mouse had an international customer base that paid for content using money credited to encrypted accounts.[3] The studio did not operate from a permanent location; instead, Kropochkin frequently moved between various sites in Novosibirsk, including the Oktyabrsky District, using rented apartments and a garage.

While the exact number of girls who worked with Siberian Mouse is unknown, it is estimated that approximately 500 girls were involved in the operation over its duration. These girls received varying payments based on the nature of the shoot, ranging from 200 to 10,000 rubles.[3] Among the former models, Masha Babko is the most notorious. She, along with Irina Nikolaizen, who was also involved in the same activities, was interviewed on Russian TV.[4] Although both Babko and Nikolaizen did suffer some negative consequences due to her involvement with Siberian Mouse, these were a result of bullying rather than anything intrinsic to such acts.[1]

Masha Babko regarding "Uncle Seryozha":

To be honest, outside of filming, he could communicate with girls, you could always call him, he would come and talk to you, just talk. He could help with money, take him somewhere. I was very lonely then, and I talked to him.[1]

Kropochkin was a good psychologist, he knew the approach to children. He managed to persuade all the girls. He always worked slowly, calmly, there was no violence or coercion nearby. After filming, he accompanied us home.[3]
