The Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) is a branch of the UK state police, set up by the National Crimes Squad (NCS) in 2003, to "co-ordinate investigations by UK police forces and international law enforcement agencies" (The Guardian). They are known to work closely with the Public Protection Management Team (PPMT), the Child Abuse Investigation Unit (CAIU) and CEOP.
