Agustin Malon
Agustín Malón Marco is a Spanish academic known for his research in the fields of sexology, sociology and criminology. He has focused particularly on issues related to child sexual abuse such as social psychology behind the moral panic, myth construction, iatrogenic harm. He advocates for nuanced approach to child's sexuality.
Malón Marco pursued postgraduate studies in sexology at the Madrid Institute of Sexological Sciences around 1997. His doctoral thesis, defended in March 2004 in Huesca, focused on the discourse of the sexual abuse of minors. Throughout his research, Malón Marco combined his work as a sexologist, particularly in sex education, with his investigation and study of child sexual abuse. He did not receive financial assistance for his thesis work and relied on his job as a sexologist for funding.
Also Malón Marco conducted fieldwork in Guatemala youth court for about a year and a half, investigating cases of at-risk minors who had allegedly suffered sexual abuse and accusations regarding minors who had committed sexual offenses. Malón aimed this fielwork to translate concrete case realities into a larger discourse on sexual abuse.
