Coming for your children
"We're coming for your children" is a satirical catchphrase of gay activists attempting to ridicule conceptions of grooming and gay identity.
It has also been used in a pedophobic and homophobic manner by conservatives, and has a history of being used within a broader cultural context.[1] Moral panic details the 1980s save our children campaign, where American conservative activists sought to convince parents that homosexuals were "coming for our kids", whipping up fears of children being recruited into the ranks of the gay movement by subversive queers.
The slogan, within its reclaimed queer context, is associated with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus in particular.
In 2015, the late MAP Activist Nigel Leigh Oldfield used an alternative version "bring your children to me"[2] to stoke up anger in a small mob that had gathered outside his home.
