Egon Schiele (1890–1918) was an influential expressionist painter. Young girls figure into much of Schiele's erotic art.
In 1912, Schiele was arrested and charged with violating Austria's Age of Consent (14 at the time). He was accused of seducing Tatjana Georgette Anna von Mossig, a runaway who had been living with and modelling for Schiele since the age of 12. Schiele was also charged with moral offenses when a search of his home turned up dozens of erotic drawings of "very young girls", one of which was ceremonially burned by the judge during his trial. The "rape" investigation ultimately fell apart because Tatjana refused to testify, but Schiele received a brief prison sentence for allowing children to view his drawings.
