Mu (μ) (map-union.org, f. 25 Jun, 2024) is an international, third-generation/third-wave MAP umbrella organization with a primarily European and Asian focus. It hosts an online forum for MAPs/AAMs and Allies, and releases statements and information resources intended to represent a broad range of opinions within the MAP Community. Translation into multiple languages is an ultimate aim of Mu's information strategy.

Signature features of Mu's approach include a focus on seeking publicity and engaging with media via press releases (i.e. "visibility"), and an attempt to foster communication between parts of the community with fundamentally different views on consent.

Founding

Mu was set up by way of a 4-person "enclave circle" committee, with further committee members or guests to be invited by unanimous agreement. Two committee members had previously attended Ipce and Newgon-related functions, and a further two were unaffiliated with those groups:

Coverage

Mu achieved US national and social media coverage for its thoroughgoing defense of MAP Camp in 2024, and has been featured by Andy Ngo, Libs of TikTok, a former Member of the European Parliament, and on multiple occasions by Gays Against Groomers.^[1]^[2]^[3] Various false claims about positions espoused by the group were presented in the Italian newsmagazine Gaeta.it, alongside claims "demonstrations were held in several cities, with signs and slogans in favor of the safety of children and against any form of legitimization of sexual acts with minors", leading to outcry on social media.^[4]

Almost a year after the initial controversy over MAP Camp, former Shameless actor, Kelli Hollis posted an angry TikTok in which she attacked statements made by Mu and it's former spokesman, Brian Ribbon.^[5]^[6]

For a short time, Mu ran a highly successful Bluesky account under the "Mu HQ" handle, interacting with MAPs and members of the public. Mu plans to return to social media when an opportunity presents itself.

Features

Mu organizes the updating content on its website into three streams. On the homepage, are any statements made by the group, including analysis articles and news updates. Mu runs content classes such as fact checks (Mu Verify), news and press releases. Another page on the website entitled "perspectives" is home to opinion pieces, easy-reading clickbait pieces (Mu Lowdown), conversation starters (Mu Conversations) and even guest blogs.

The website's editor, Jim Burton has stated that he wants it to be used by others as the inspiration for a fully designed online "MAP Lifestyle Magazine", which would combine features on more low-brow content such as YouTube celebrities, youth in cinema, and popular girls on social media.

Forum

Upon its opening, Mu set up a forum modelled loosely on B4um, but intended to be viewable by members of the public (bar politics and sensitive offsite operations).

There are ongoing plans to relocate and rebrand this forum.
