Beyond the Plus (Bt+) is a Seattle-based Radqueer organization founded in 2025.

Relationship with LGBTQ+ community

On their website, Bt+ claim to be against gatekeeping in the LGBTQ+ community and for the inclusion of groups such as MAPs within their own organization. While they also state they are inclusive towards LGBTQ+ people, they do not present themselves as pushing for their own inclusion within the mainstream LGBTQ+ community. MAP groups have (see ILGA) been officially excluded from LGBTQ+ umbrella organizations and some pride festivities since around 1994.

Outreach

Via their social media, Bt+ have posted about their work at pride events in their local area, which includes setting up information tents and handing out badges featuring symbolism from traditional and radical queer identities such as Transage identity.

Online

The organization has had a mixed reception on social media, with one Mastodon account getting banned for vague reasons. Bluesky has also taken action to ban the organization, but has since stated that it will adopt rules in October 2025 that do not forbid anything it posts. Its founder responded that the organization can not be banned from real life and stated their intent to continue promoting their work at public events.

Beliefs

On their website they have stated that their beliefs as an organization are:

Autonomy: Autonomy is respecting that everyone is in charge of their own person. It means that consent is important, that everyone gets to decide what standards they hold for their own consent, and that those standards should be respected. It means that if someone identifies a certain way, then they should have the resources to transition however they see fit. This core belief is what drives us to fight for orientation and identity.

Equality: Lots of groups in the world are oppressed. Stigma against love of an oppressed group is emplaced because people want to maintain control over that group. The only path to liberation is equality, and that means that the ones we love need the rights they deserve, and that everyone should have equal opportunity no matter what.

Sex Positivity: Sex positivity is the belief that sex is a natural part of our lives as reproductive animals, and that there shouldn't be a stigma around it. We believe that resources for sex and relationships should be available to everyone who wants it, and that sex education is important to having positive sexual experiences.

Queerness Queer means weird, and that's something you can't define. We believe that anyone can be queer in their own way, and that telling someone their orientation or identity isn't valid isn't right. First it was gender sexuality, then transgender people, and to this day various groups are trying to justify why their initial should be added to "LGBT", but if we continue letting in one group at a time, we'll never see a day where everyone accepted. It's time to end the gatekeeping and just be "queer".

Love: One group on their own can make change, but when two groups of similar people are fighting for the same rights, it spreads out what could be a larger movement. We believe that by sticking to a general cause, we can unite more people than an organization fighting for one group. By banding together over the beliefs of Autonomy, Equality, Sex Positivity, Queerness, Love, and Unity, we can do more together than we can apart.
