Connor Weston is a self-identified, Non-Offending MAP and former Wikipedian who shot to notoriety in 2025 after carrying out a publicity stunt in which he threatened to kill himself at Wikipedia's annual convention, while brandishing a revolver. No one was hurt, despite the incident causing considerable alarm. Media presentation of Wikipedians who intervened during the incident as "heroes" was premature, since there is no evidence Weston was planning an act of violence against anyone (bar, potentially himself).[1]
Prior to this, Weston had participated in the Virtuous Pedophiles community among others, and had set up signs in public locations declaring himself to be an anti-contact, non-offending pedophile. He posted videos online, making similar statements - observing a reductive approach intended to distill his message and make it easy to access for members of the public.
The event attracted significant attention online and in news media, with more than a million people having viewed posts on X / Twitter about the controversy.[2] Discussions surrounding his stunt among other MAPs vary, with some chastising him for bringing "negative publicity", some suggesting it was a "cry for help", and others claiming it may have been a calculated act, or otherwise net-positive for MAP visibility. While his treatment was unsurprising, some comments shared online calling for him to be executed, were seized upon by pro-c's to claim that anti-contact activism is strategically naive. However, Weston also gained support in some corners of the internet, notably Reddit, for his underlying message at least. There is a general consensus among fellow MAPs, that Weston was suffering from mental-health problems at the time of his stunt.
Notable amid the controversy surrounding Weston, was the sheer number of outlets covering the event, with much of the liberal media switching from their previous refusal to cover MAP-related events. Prior to the event, it had been popular to claim via liberal-focused social media (Bluesky, Reddit) that the MAP Community was a "psy-op" invented by Russia, 4chan, or the MAGA movement. Previous incidents, notably those involving Allyn Walker (2021) and Lilitha (2023) had weakened the case for these claims.
