Charles Whitfield
Dr Charles L. Whitfield is a medical doctor who specialises in trauma recovery, authoring a number of books on popular psychology (self help), child sexual abuse and the highly profitable adult children of alcoholic parents genre. He has taught at Rutgers University and is a listed member of The Leadership Council and American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, having also co-authored Misinformation Concerning Child Sexual Abuse and Adult Survivors, a book written to support TLC's victimological agenda, most notably attempting to discredit Bruce Rind.
Whitfield is a strong advocate of the inner child and codependency concepts in popular psychology. This is perhaps unsurprising, since his book on the subject, Healing the Child Within (1987) has sold 1.5 million copies.
Whitfield's wife, Barbara is an established advocate of spiritualism, the human sole and near-death experiences, writing books on these subjects.
